Cascara Waterfall Bendo Seed Shaker Chime 78 Seed
Dimensions: 10.5" Wide x 17" Length
Weight: ~400 grams
The Thetazen Cascara Waterfall Bendo Chime is a stunning wall-hanging percussion piece that bridges natural artistry and expressive sound. Seventy-eight Bendo seed pods are individually strung on fine strands suspended from a solid dark wood header bar, arranged in cascading rows — evoking the layered flow of a waterfall. Measuring 10.5" x 17" and weighing approximately 400 grams, the Waterfall Bendo shell makes an immediate visual statement in any space while delivering a warm, hollow, multi-layered rattle that responds to the lightest touch or passing air current. A mounting hole in the header allows for easy wall or ceiling installation or for hanging from a stand, and the Thetazen emblem is subtly featured on the bar. As a handmade item, slight variations in seed shape, tone, and arrangement are natural and give each piece its own character.
The Bendo seed is harvested from Artocarpus elasticus — a large tropical tree native to the Indonesian archipelago and widely cultivated across Java, Borneo, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand. Related to the jackfruit and breadfruit family, the Bendo tree has long been woven into the daily life and material culture of the communities that surround it. The hollow dried seed shells produce a sound prized for its warm, airy resonance, and have been used in handcrafted percussion instruments across the region for generations. The Waterfall Bendo continues this tradition in a new form — one designed not just to be played, but to inhabit a space, sounding gently with the natural movement of the environment around it.
Whether placed in a sound therapy studio, meditation space, or entryway, the Cascara Waterfall Bendo Chime brings a living, organic quality to any room — a piece that is as beautiful to look at as it is to listen to.
