Cleaning and Caring for Tibetan Singing Bowls
Tibetan singing bowls are a unique treasure. Many people have asked us how to take care of them.
If you choose to clean or polish your bowl you can do this in a variety of ways. Some people just want to clean the bowl or take off any excess dirt left over time. If this is the case some mild soap with warm water will do great. If you would like to do some deeper cleaning, an orange oil based cleaner(available at all discount stores) works wonders. Lastly, if you want to polish your bowl you can use a variety of brass or bronze polishes.
Of course with any cleaning or polishing test a small area first to see if you will achieve the desired results. The bowls are created at high temperatures so it is doubtful you could ruin your bowl by cleaning or polishing it, but you could alter the patina.
As for general care of the bowls it is pretty simple. Since the bowls are made from metal they are pretty strong. Of course we wouldn't recommend dropping or abusing your bowl, but with normal use they will generally last forever. We do suggest that you store your bowls in warmer temperatures. This allows the metals to flex better when using the bowls.
